Climate and CO2

The campaign closed down 31st of December 2009. The campaign's message was that we all must take responsibility for the future and reduce our personal CO2 emissions.

The EU member countries have devised a scheme for greenhouse gas emission allowance trading, effective from the start of 2005.

Part of the Energy Agreement of 21 February 2008 on Danish energy policy for 2008-11 is that DKK 10 mill. per year for 2008-09 and DKK 5 mill. per year for 2010-12 is to be appropriated for a test scheme for electric cars.

Climate change is happening and it will impact a lot of people over the next decades. Therefore it is vital that we now to incorporate adaptation to climate change in our long-term decisions.

Denmark has promised to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 21 per cent. As a supplement to domestic initiatives the Danish government has engaged in development of CDM and JI projects within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol.

The Danish National Allocation Plan (NAP) is a central element in Denmark’s commitments to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions. A NAP is actually a meticulous description of the status of a country’s climate efforts.

Climate change leads to increasing temperatures, melting ice, rising water levels, greater precipitation, and greater risk of drought and other extremes.
