The Danish Energy Agency is now launching the tendering process for the coming Thor Offshore Wind Farm. Thor will be Denmark's largest offshore wind farm to date with a capacity of 800-1000 MW when it is fully established and connected to the grid by 2027 at the latest.

The Danish Energy Agency and the Vietnamese Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority are preparing an Input to Roadmap report for offshore wind development in Vietnam. Vietnam has a potential of 160 GW offshore wind, and today the Danish Energy Agency and Vietnamese authorities organized a webinar to discuss the most important governmental steps to move the expansion of offshore wind forward.

Record-low coal consumption in 2019

Last year, Danish consumption of coal fell by almost 43%, and now accounts for just 5% of the observed energy consumption. Energy consumption fell by 3.4%, while observed CO2 emissions from energy consumption fell by almost 6%. These are highlights from the preliminary energy statistics for 2019 published by the Danish Energy Agency today.

A cooperation between Danish and Chinese energy authorities has demonstrated how China could save more than 7 billion tons of CO2 annually by 2050 – nearly 200 times the annual Danish CO2 emissions from energy demand - and reach its national climate targets as well as the UN below 2-degree target without increasing cost of energy.
