The United Kingdom is in the process of finding green alternatives for its heating supply in order to achieve its goal of reducing its total CO2-emissions to "net zero" in 2050. 

District heating and energy efficiency in buildings are both essential building blocks in the Danish transition away from fossil fuels and could also play a central role for the UK in its green transition. 

The Danish Energy Agency and the Danish Embassy in London support central political institutions in England and Scotland on their quest to build effective framework conditions that can secure a green transition of its heating systems and increased energy efficiency in buildings.

The cooperation is part of a wider bilateral cooperation on energy between the British Department for Energy Security & Net Zero and the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, which also include offshore wind, Power-to-X and CCUS. 

Scottish Government has also been a long standing and close partner since the first cooperation agreement on energy was signed in 2018.
