The Danish Energy Agency opens consultation on an amended electricity market bidding zone configuration around Energy Island Bornholm
Energinet (the Danish TSO) has identified a structural congestion in the electricity transmission network that connects Bornholm Energy Island to Zealand and Germany. As the main rule, bidding zone borders must be drawn on structural congestions in the electricity transmission network. To facilitate this, the Danish Energy Agency makes the decision on an amended bidding zone configuration open for consultation.
Energinet (the Danish TSO) has identified a structural congestion in the electricity transmission network that connects Bornholm Energy Island to Zealand and Germany. Following the identification of the structural congestion, the Danish Energy Agency notified the European Commission and ACER (Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators) about the decision to amend the bidding zone configuration in Denmark.
Denmark is required to conduct a consultation of relevant stakeholders regarding the amendment of the biding zone configuration. With this notice, the Danish Energy Agency makes the decision open for consultation. Please provide any comments by e-mail to elmarked@ens.dk at the latest the 16th of November 2023.
Next step
After the consultation period, the Danish Energy Agency will review the comments. The Danish Energy Agency expects that Denmark will finalize the decision on establishing the new bidding zone by the end of 2023.
