Green Labs launched
Following a comprehensive round of consultations in the entire Danish clean-tech sector, the first applications are now being called for in the “Green Labs DK” subsidy programme. The programme gives subsidies to set up new facilities for testing and demonstration of climate technologies of international class and it is one of the flag ships of the business climate strategy. A total of DKK 210 million has been earmarked for the programme over the next three years.
“The consultations have shown that we have hit the right spot and that there is great demand for the programme’s funding. The number of qualified and innovative suggestions in itself has been overwhelming. Green Labs DK will contribute to the government’s aim of becoming independent of fossil fuels and it will help Denmark keep up in the green race of the future,” said Lykke Friis, Danish Minister for Climate and Energy.
An application can be made for funding for Green Labs for all types of climate technologies which can contribute to making Denmark independent of fossil fuels. This includes primarily projects concerning efficient exploitation of energy and use of RE technologies.
“Green Labs DK will brand Denmark as a test country for new green technology. Just the name itself will in future be a guarantee for world-class test and demonstration facilities,” Lykke Friis continued.
Applications must demonstrate a significant need for test and demonstration activity, an global potential for the commercial dissemination of the technology, and a robust business model for operating the facilities. Furthermore the facilities must be of high international standard.
“I encourage all players in the various technology fields to join together and make applications with clout. Applicants must show that they can gather research, education and test and demonstration facilities in centres which can develop into state-of-the-art facilities,” said Lykke Friis.
