Historically low prices offered in Danish tender of aid for solar PV

12. December 2016

The winning tenders in the pilot tender of aid for solar PV conducted by the Danish Energy Agency were for a premium of only 12.89 Danish øre per kWh. This result testifies that electricity from solar PV in Denmark can now compete with the cheapest sources of renewable energy.

The deadline for submitting tenders in the pilot tender of aid for solar PV conducted by the Danish Energy Agency, expired on 8 December at 4 pm.

36 tenders for a total of 79.45 MW were submitted before the deadline. The 9 winning tenders concern a fixed premium of 12.89 Danish øre per kWh for 20 years.

The three companies, who each submitted tenders regarding three installations of 2.4 MW, are P&B Solpark Danmark 8 K/S, P&B Solpark Danmark 9 K/S and P&B Solpark Danmark 11 K/S.

The winning tenders concern a total capacity of 21.6 MW. The total volume of aid is thus expected to be approximately 2.8 million DKK annually once the installations have been installed, which is significantly below the 8 million DKK annually which were the expectation when the legal basis for the tender was adopted.

The tender was open to projects in Germany up to a limit of 2.4 MW, but no offers were submitted regarding installations in Germany.

Contracts with the winning tenderers are expected to be signed before Christmas. The result is final when the contracts have been signed.
