In order to draft and implement policy measures supporting the development of renewable energy in Viet Nam, learning from and sharing experiences with countries successful in this field is a vital instrument to proceed on the outlined path. Under the German (GIZ) renewable energy co-operation with Viet Nam, a delegation visited Germany and Denmark during the period 21-25th October 2013 with the participation of high ranking delegates involved in the development of strategy and policy for renewable energy development in Viet Nam. The visit to Denmark was organized by WWF, Denmark, and the delegation was led by the key counterpart for the Danish-Vietnamese low carbon transition in the energy sector program, Deputy Director General Mr. Cao Quoc Hung from the General Directorate of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Delegation included participants from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Natural Resources, the Government Office and the National Bank. In Denmark the delegation met with the Danish Energy Agency on Oct. 25th to get insights about Denmark’s energy and climate policy and renewable energy support policies in general and country specific experiences in increasing the share of wind, biomass and biogas in the Danish energy supply, in particular. Here, the delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Director General Mr. Kristoffer Böttzauw of the Danish Energy Agency. The meeting was characterized by a lively discussion and exchange of views and questions going both ways.
