The latest amendments
On 13 October 2023 the Danish Energy Agency granted an extension of the Hejre licenses 5/98 and 1/06 from the current expiry of the licenses 15. October 2040 to the 14. February 2047 for the purpose of production.
The 5/98 license was granted in the 5th Licensing Round in 1998. The license group comprise of INEOS E&P A/S (60 %), INEOS E&P (Norge) Petroleum DK AS (25 %) and INEOS E&P (Petroleum Denmark) ApS (15 %).
The 1/06 license was granted in the 6th Licensing Round in 2006. The license group comprise of INEOS E&P A/S (48 %), INEOS E&P (Norge) Petroleum DK AS (20 %), INEOS E&P (Petroleum Denmark) ApS (12 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %).
Licence 9/16 – granted in the 7th Round – has been relinquished with effect from 21. April 2023. The license comprised an 390,7 km2 area in the Danish Central Graben. Wintershall Dea International GmbH was the operator of the licence that included Wintershall Dea International GmbH (50%), ONE-Dyas Denmark ApS (30%) and Nordsøfonden (20%).

The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of Spyker Energy ApS’ 8% share of licenses 12/06 and 4/16 to the remaining participants. Dana Petroleum Denmark B.V. has expanded its share in both 12/06 and 4/16 from 40% to 43,48%. Petrogas E&P UK Limited has expanded its share in 12/06 from 19% to 20,65% and in 4/16 from 24% to 26,09%. Petrogas Denmark ApS has expanded its share in 12/06 from 5% to 5,44%. Danoil Exploration A/S has expanded its share in both 12/06 and 4/16 from 8% to 10,43%. Nordsøfonden maintains a 20% share in both 12/06 and 4/16. The effective date of the transfer is 1 July 2020.

Licence 1/16 - granted in the 7th Round - has been relinquished with effect from 1 January 2020. The licence comprised an area in the eastern part of the Danish Central Graben. Wintershall Noordzee B.V. was the operator for the licence that included Wintershall Noordzee B.V. (80 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %).
With effect from 2 January 2020 the Danish Energy Agency has granted a 30 year extension - for the purpose of production - of the licence term for the Greater Ravn area. The extension applies to a part of licence 5/06 and a part of licence 2/16. Wintershall Noordzee B.V. is the operator of both licences. The remaining part of the licences were in 2014 and 2016 respectively granted a 30 year extension- for the purpose of production.
On 17 December 2019 the Danish Energy Agency granted an extension to the 8 July 2042 - for the purpose of production - of the licence term for the 8/06-B area in the southwestern part of the Valdemar field. The extension applies to licence 8/06 area B. Total E&P Danmark A/S is the operator of the licence.

Following the acquisition of Shell’s subsidiary Shell Olie- og Gasudvinding Danmark B.V(SOGU) by Altinex AS, an intra-group transfer of SOGU’s 36,8% share of DUC to Noreco Oil Denmark A/S, subsidiary of Altinex AS, has been effectuated. The information about sole concession has been updated accordingly.
Following Altinex AS’s acquisition of Shell’s subsidiary Shell Olie- og Gasudvinding Danmark B.V. Holland. Dansk Filial, the company has been renamed Noreco Olie- og Gasudvinding Danmark B.V. The information about license 8/06b has been updated accordingly.

Licence 16/16. The licence comprised an area in the Central Graben – two parts of the licence was delineated in terms of depth. The licence was delineated in terms of depth and applied below 1700 meters to an area in the Southern Part of the Danish Central Graben area. Ardent Oil (Denmark) S.A. was the operator for the licensee that included Ardent Oil (Denmark) S.A. (80 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %). A part of the awarded licence area was relinquished in May 2018

License 12/16 and 13/16 were operated by Ardent Oil (Denmark) S.A. The licensees consisted of the following companies: Ardent Oil (Denmark) S.A. (80 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %).
License 15/16 was operated by INEOS E&P A/S. The licensee consisted of the following companies: INEOS E&P A/S (60 %), Edison International S.P.A. (20 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %).
License 9/95 has been relinquished with effect from 1 April 2018. The license comprised an area in the western part of the Danish North Sea. INEOS E&P A/S was the operator. The licensee included the following companies: INEOS E&P A/S (70 %), Nordsøfonden (20 %) and Danoil Exploration A/S. Two explorations wells were drilled: Gita-1X in 2008/2009 and Xana-1X in 2014/2015. Xana-1X made a gas/condensate discovery in Upper Jurassic sandstones at a depth of ca. 5 kilometers. Gita-1X encountered shows in the Middle Jurassic Bryne Formation at ca. 5 kilometers depth.
Part of license 4/98 has been relinquished with effect from 1 May 2018. The relinquishment concerns the “exploration”-part of the license (see amendment of July 2015) and does not affect the part of license 4/98 which includes the Solsort oil discovery. The license was operated by INEOS E&P A/S on behalf of the license group consisting of: INEOS E&P A/S (70 %), Nordsøfonden (20 %) and Danoil Exploration A/S.

The Danish Energy Agency has approved the indirect transfer of a 50% share and the role as operator in license 7/16 as well as a 32% share in license 14/16 from HANSA Hydrocarbons Limited to Discover Exploration Limited. Effective date 22. January 2018.

With effect from 7 December 2017 A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S’ share of the Sole Concession of 8 July 1962 has been assigned to Mærsk Olie og Gas A/S. Before the assignment the Concession was held by the two companies jointly. In the license overview the description of the DUC group has been adjusted accordingly.

On 6 December 2017 the Danish Energy Agency approved the indirect partial transfers of Bayerngas Danmark ApS’ shares in license 4/98, 5/98, 1/06 and 3/09 and Bayerngas Petroleum Danmark AS’ shares in license 5/98 and 1/06 to Spirit Energy Limited.
Spirit Energy has subsequently changed the name of Bayerngas Danmark ApS to Spirit Energy Danmark ApS on 8 December 2017 and changed the name of Bayerngas Petroleum Danmark AS to Spirit Energy Petroleum Danmark AS on 18 December 2017.

The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S’ share of 31.2 % in license 8/06, area B, to Mærsk Olie og Gas A/S. The effective date of the transfer is 28 November 2017.
On 21 November 2017 the Danish Energy Agency extended the term of licence 9/95 until 1 May 2018 for the purpose of exploration.

On 28 September the Danish Energy Agency approved INEOS’ acquisition of DONG E&P A/S, DONG E&P DK A/S and DONG E&P Siri (UK) Limited. As a consequence of the acquisition INEOS has changed the names of the three companies. According to the Danish Central Business Register the names of DONG E&P A/S and DONG E&P DK A/S were changed to INEOS E&P A/S and INEOS E&P DK A/S on 29 September 2017, and according to the Companies House the name of DONG E&P Siri (UK) Limited, registered in England and Wales, was changed to INEOS E&P Siri (UK) Limited on 12 October 2017. As a consequence of this the information about the following licenses have been updated: 7/86, 7/89, 1/90, 4/95, 6/95, 9/95, 4/98, 5/98, 16/98, 1/06, 3/09, 15/16 and 16/16.

The information concerning license 4/16 has been updated to reflect the Danish Energy Agency’s approval of December 2016 of Spyker Energy ApS’ farm-in into the license with an 8% share. The transfer involved Spyker Energy ApS’ acquisition of 3,75% share from Dana Petroleum B.V.(now holding 40%) a 2% share from Danoil Exploration A/S (now holding 8%) and a 2,25% share from Petrogas E&P UK Limited (now holding 26,25%). The effective date of the transfer is 14. September 2016.

The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of a 30 % share of license 5/16 from Dana Petroleum Denmark B.V. to Petrogas E&P UK Limited. Dana Petroleum Denmark B.V.’s share of the license is thereby reduced to 40 %. The effective date is 14 February 2017.

On 7 December 2016 the Danish Energy Agency granted a 30 year extension until 7 December 2046 of part of the 2/16 license covering the Ravn-3 discovery for the purpose of production. The extension granted were based on the declaration of commerciality filed by Wintershall Noordzee earlier this year on behalf of the license group.
The 2/16 license was granted in the 7th Licensing Round in 2016, and is neighbour to the Ravn-3 discovery in license 5/06. The license group comprises of Wintershall Noordzee B.V. (63.64%) and Nordsøfonden (36.36%).

On 14 October 2016 the Danish Energy Agency granted a 20 year extension of the 7/89 license comprising of the South Arne field delineation until 14 February 2047 for the purpose of production.
The 7/89 license was grated in the 3rd Licensing Round in 1989. The license group comprise of Hess Danmark ApS (61.5 %), DONG E&P A/S (36.8 %) and Danoil Explorations A/S (1.7 %).

On 20 May 2016 the Danish Energy Agency extended the licence terms for licence 12/06 and licence 4/16 for the purpose of production until 20 May 2046. The extensions granted were based on the declaration of commerciality filed by Dana Petroleum earlier this year on behalf of the two licence groups. The extensions comprise the delineated Lille John oil deposit and the Broder Tuck gas deposit. The licences to the remaining parts of the licence 12/06 and 4/16 expired on 22 May 2016.
Following Petrogas' acquisition of PA Resources Denmark ApS and PA Resources UK Ltd earlier this year the name of PA Resources Denmark ApS was changed to Petrogas Denmark ApS on 23 March 2016 and the name PA Resources UK Limited was changed to Petrogas E&P UK Limited on 7 April 2016.

The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of a 10 % share in licence 4/98 from DONG E&P A/S to Danoil Exploration A/S. DONG E&P A/S' share of the licence is thereby reduced to 70 %. The effective date of the transfer is 30 July 2015.
The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of 36.406 % share in licence 7/86 and 1/90 (Lulita) from DONG E&P A/S to DONG E&P DK A/S. DONG E&P A/S' share is thereby reduced to 43,594 % . The effective date of the transfer is 1 October 2015.
Licence 1/13 was relinquished on 1 December 2015. The license comprised an area offshore in the Open Door area. ESP Oil & Gas ApS was the operator on behalf of the licence group consisting of ESP Oil & Gas ApS and Nordsøfonden (20 %).
November 2015
The licence term of licence 9/95 has been extended by 2 years until 22 November 2017 for the purpose of exploration. The extension applies to the part of the licence which contains the hydrocarbon discovery made earlier this year with the Xana-1X exploration well. The northern part of the licence has been relinquished as of 22 November 2015. A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S and Denerco Oil Denmark A/S have withdrawn from the licence as of 22 November 2015. The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of the companies' 34 % and 16 % shares of the licence to DONG E&P A/S whereby DONG E&P A/S' share of the licence has increased to 70 %. Further Mærsk Olie og Gas A/S has withdrawn as operator of the licence and the Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of the operatorship to DONG E&P A/S. The effective date of the transfers is 22 November 2015.

Licence 1/08 was relinquished on 15 September 2015. The license comprised an area onshore in the southern part of the Danish Open Door area. New World Resources Operations ApS was the operator on behalf of the licence group consisting of Danica Resources ApS (55%), New World Resources ApS (25 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %). 2D seismic data were acquired in 2012.
Licence 1/09 was relinquished on 15 September 2015. The licence comprised an area onshore in the mid-western part of Jutland in the Danish Open Door area. New World Operations ApS was the operator on behalf of the licence group consisting of Danica Jutland ApS (55%), New World Jutland ApS (25 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %). 3D seismic data were acquired in 2013.
Licence 2/09 was relinquished on 15 September 2015. The licence comprised an area onshore in the mid-eastern part of Jutland in the Danish Open Door area. New World Operations ApS was the operator on behalf of the licence group consisting of Danica Jutland ApS (55 %), New World Jutland ApS (25 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %). 2D seismic data were acquired in 2012.
July 2015
The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of Noreco Oil Denmark A/S' 30 % share in licence 4/95 (Nini Field) to DONG E&P A/S and DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG. DONG E&P A/S' share has thereby increased with 17.143 % to 57.143 % and DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG's share has increased with 12.857 % to 42.857 %. The effective date of the transfers is 21 January 2015.
The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of a 37 % share from Noreco Oil Denmark A/S and 24 % share from Noreco Petroleum Denmark A/S to DONG E&P A/S and DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG in licence 16/98. The transfer gives DONG E&P A/S a 56,410 % share and DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG a 43,590 % share in the licence, as of 20 February 2015.
The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of a 28.904 % share from Noreco Oil Denmark A/S and 7.502 % share from Noreco Petroleum Denmark A/S to DONG E&P A/S in both licence 7/86 and licence 1/90 (Lulita). The transfers gives DONG E&P A/S a 80 % share, Noreco Oil Denmark A/S a 10 % share and Noreco Petroleum Denmark A/S a 10 % share in both licences, as of 14 April 2015
The licence term of licence 4/98 has been extended until 29 June 2017 for the purpose of exploration. The extension does not apply to Solsort part of the licence, which was already extended for the purpose of production. Part of the original licence area is not comprised by the extension and is therefore relinquished as of 29 June 2015. Bayerngas Danmark ApS and VNG Danmark ApS do not participate in the part extended for the purpose of exploration. The Danish Energy Agency has consequently approved the transfer of a 30 % share from Bayerngas Danmark ApS and 15 % share from VNG Danmark ApS to DONG E&P A/S. The transfers gives DONG E&P A/S a 80 % share and Nordsøfonden a 20 % share in the licence, as of 29 June 2015.

Licence 2/10 was relinquished on 1 July 2015. The Open Door licence comprised an area onshore Northern Zealand. Total E&P Denmark B.V. was the operator of the licence group consisting of Total E&P Denmark B.V. (80 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %). In 2013 the licensee carried out an aeromagnetic/-gravimetric survey over the area.
On 25 June 2015 the Danish Energy Agency granted a 30 year extension - for the purpose of production - of the licence term for the Solsort discovery. The extension applies to a part of licence 3/09 and a part of licence 4/98. DONG E &P A/S is the operator of both licences.
The licence term of licence 3/09 has been extended until 29 June 2017 for the purpose of exploration.
The licence term of licence 4/98 has been extended until 13 July 2015 for the purpose of exploration. The Eastern part of the licence has been relinquished as of 29 June 2015.
A part of licence 12/06 was relinquished as of 31 March 2015.
On 19 September 2014 the Danish Energy Agency granted a 30 year extension - for the purpose of production - of the licence term for the Ravn discovery in the Ravn-3 block. The extension applies to part of licence 5/06. Wintershall Noordzee B.V. is the operator.

The licence terms for Open Door licences 1/09 and 2/09 have been extended from 17 May 2015 until 17 May 2017. With effect from 15 March 2015 ca. 85 % of the 1/09 licence area and ca. 30 % of the 2/09 licence area was relinquished. At the same time ca. 50 % of the 1/08 Open Door licence area was relinquished.

Licence 4/06, subarea B, expired on 22 January 2015. The licence comprised an area in the western part of the Danish North Sea. Wintershall Nordzee was the operator on behalf of the licence group consisting of Wintershall Noordzee B.V. (80 and Nordsøfonden (20 %). The exploration well Chabazite-1 was drilled in the licence area in June-September 2014. 3D seismic data were acquired in 2007.

The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of a 5 % share in licence 12/06 from PA Resources UK Limited to PA Resources Denmark ApS. PA Resources UK Ltd.'s share in the licence is thereby reduced from 24 to 19 %. The effective date of the transfer is 1 April 2014.

The Danish Energy Agency has approved the transfer of a 20 % share in licence 9/95 to Nordsøfonden. According to the approved agreement A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S consequently reduces its share from 42.6 to 34 %, DONG E&P A/S from 27.3 to 20 % and Noreco Oil Denmark A/S from 20.1 to 16 %, while Danoil Exploration A/S' share of 10 % is unchanged. The effective date of the transfer is 1 January 2014.

The Amalie part of licence 7/86, i.e. the Amalie field delineation, has been relinquished as of 16 June 2014. DONG E&P A/S was the operator of the licence group that comprised Hess Denmark ApS (40.077 %), DONG E&P A/S (30.000 %), Noreco Oil Denmark A/S (19.431 %) and Noreco Petroleum Denmark A/S (10.492 %). The Middle Jurassic Amalie gas accumulation was discovered in 1991 with the Amalie-1 exploration well.

The licence term of licence 1/08 has been extended until 31 March 2016 for the purpose of exploration. The majority of the offshore part of the original licence area is not comprised by the extension and is therefore relinquished as of 31 May 2014.

Licence 7/06 expired on 22 May 2014. The licence comprised an area in the western part of the Danish North Sea. DONG E&P A/S was the operator on behalf of the licence group consisting of DONG E&P A/S (40 %), RWE Dea AG (40 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %). In 2007 the licence group drilled the Rau-1 exploration well, which made an oil discovery in sandstone of Paleocene age.

A new Open Door licence - 1/14 - was awarded on 21 May 2014 to Jutland Petroleum GmbH (80 %) and Nordsøfonden (20 %) with Jutland Petroleum as the operator of the licence. The licence comprises an area in Southern Jutland.

The Danish Energy Agency has approved the assignment of Hess Energi ApS's 40.077 % share in licence 7/86 (Amalie part) to Hess Denmark ApS. The effective date of the transfer is 1 January 2014. Accordingly the co-operatorship in the licence has been transferred from Hess Energi ApS to Hess Denmark ApS.

Mærsk Olie og Gas A/S was the operator on behalf of the licence group consisting of A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S (31.2 %), PA Resources Denmark ApS (26.8 %), Noreco Oil Denmark A/S (12.0 %), Danoil Exploration A/S (10.0 %) and Nordsøfonden (20.0 %). In 2008-2009 the licence group participated in the drilling of the Gita-1X well in the adjacent licence 9/95.

The Danish Energy Agency has approved the assignment of a 40 % share in licence 12/06 from PA Resources UK Limited to Dana Petroleum Denmark B.V. PA Resources' share is thereby reduced to 24 %. The effective date of the transfer is 1 January 2013.

Licence 5/06 has been updated to reflect that Nordsøfonden (the Danish North Sea Fund) earlier this year took over a 16.36 % share in licence 5/06 from Wintershall Noordzee B.V. Nordsøfondens share in the licence thereby increased to 36.36 % whereas Wintershall share decreased to 63.64 %. The effective date of the transfer was 2 January 2014.
