Energy consumption falls in Q2 2011
Observed energy consumption fell in Q2 2011 by 3% compared with Q2 2010.
Observed energy consumption fell in Q2 2011 by 3% compared with Q2 2010. Consumption of oil and natural gas fell by 0.7% and 21.1% respectively, while consumption of coal went up by 1.3%. Adjusted for fuel consumption for foreign trade in electricity, energy consumption fell by 3.0% in Q2 2011.
Observed energy consumption in the first half of 2011 fell by 3.7% relative to the first half of 2010. When adjusted for fuel in connection with net imports of electricity, energy consumption fell by 4.2%.
The change in energy consumption reflects the fact that the weather in both Q2 and the first half year of 2011 was warmer than in 2010.
Primary energy production was 3.1% lower in Q2 2011 than in Q2 2010. Production of crude oil and natural gas fell by 0.8% and 9.4%, respectively.
In the first half year of 2011 primary energy production was 6.2% lower than in the first half year of 2010.
