The Danish Energy Agency is responsible for an ambitious green energy transition with a high share of renewable energy, an efficient energy consumption, a high security of supply and affordable energy prices.
In 2020, the Danish Parliament passed the Climate Act including a target to reduce Denmark’s emissions by 70 per cent in 2030 compared to 1990.
The Agency’s task is to implement this and other political decisions through regulation and incentives within energy production, supply and consumption based on a close dialogue with central stakeholders such as the industry.
The Danish Energy Agency also works for a global green transition and global CO2 reductions by sharing Danish best practices through a number of long- and short-term government-to-government cooperations.
The Danish Energy Agency was established in 1976 and is part of the Ministry of Climate, Energy & Utilities.
