Thisted
The geothermal plant in Thisted was established under DONG Energy’s geothermal license from 1983, in cooperation between DONG Energy and Thisted District Heating Company (Thisted Varmeforsyning A.m.b.a.).
The plant was commissioned in 1984.
It is connected to the city’s waste-based combined heat and power plant and can produce heat equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 2,000 households.
Aarhus
Innargi Project I P/S collaborates with Kredsløb to supply geothermal energy for district heating in Aarhus.
The opening of the Aarhus geothermal plant marks the first new geothermal facility in Denmark since 2013, when the plant in Sønderborg was commissioned.
The planned total capacity is 110 MW, covering around 20% of Aarhus’ district heating demand, equivalent to the consumption of nearly 36,000 households.
