The Danish Energy Agency cooperates with Morocco on green energy transition to support an increased use of renewable energy
The cooperation aims to support Morocco’s ambitious green energy plans through the sharing of Danish energy transition strongholds such as long term energy modelling and the development and integration of wind power in the electricity grid.

Areas of cooperation
- Integration of variable renewable energy
- Power sector modelling and planning
- Regulatory framework to support the development of onshore and offshore wind power
Energy transition - and how Danish experiences can contribute to its green transition
Morocco has demonstrated high ambitions regarding the green energy transition and aims to achieve more than 52 % of its electricity generation from renewable sources by 2030. Today, more than 80 % of the consumed energy stems from imported fossil fuels. Denmark has decades of experience with integration of large shares of renewable energy in its electricity system. These experiences will be shared with Morocco as part of a global effort to support global green energy transition. The cooperation covers integration of variable renewable energy in the electricity grid, power system modelling tools and an optimized regulatory framework for developing renewable energy in Morocco. These initiatives should help attract investors and open up for new business opportunities for all relevant suppliers.
