Actual energy consumption down in Q1 2011

Actual energy consumption was 4.6% lower in Q1 2011. Adjusted for foreign trade in electricity energy consumption fell by 5.7%.

Actual energy consumption was 4.6% lower in Q1 2011 than in Q1 2010.  This change in energy consumption reflects the milder weather in 2011 compared with 2010 (11% fewer degree days).

Net exports of electricity in Q1 2011 were higher than in the previous year. When adjusted for fuel consumption in connection with foreign trade in electricity, energy consumption fell by 5.7% in Q1 2011.

Primary energy production was 9.3% lower in Q1 2011 than in Q1 2010. Crude oil production fell by 8.4%, whereas natural gas production fell by 17.9%. Natural gas production was strongly affected by a fall in domestic consumption as well as in exports.
