China: Chinese-Danish Experience Sharing on Energy Efficiency Policies

31. August 2012

On August 31st a Chinese delegation visited Danish Energy Agency. The delegation represented China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Energy Research Institute (ERI), and was headed by NDRC deputy general secretary Ms. Zhao Jia-rong.

During the session at Danish Energy Agency, presentations were given on Danish policies in the field of energy efficiency. In Denmark energy efficiency has played a prominent role in energy policies, and will remain important in Denmark’s efforts towards a fossil fuel free society in 2050. The session gave an overview of policies historically and at present, and the fruitful discussions focused on Danish experiences on incentivizing energy efficiency in industries as well as the use of standards and labeling of products and buildings.

Both China and Denmark have great interest in energy efficiency, and the good discussions revealed a great potential for further exchange and cooperation between China and Denmark within this field.
