Felsted-1 exploration well encountred nitrogen gas and minor amounts of hydrocarbons

25. January 2012

As operator of Licence 1/05 Polish Oil & Gas Company SA (PGNIG) has drilled the Felsted-1(5409/3-1) exploration well onshore Jutland southeast of Aabenraa.

Felsted-1 was drilled as a deviated well and reached its total depth in Rotliegendes conglomerate at 2514 metres below surface, equivalent to 2412 metres vertical below mean sea level. The well encountered porous Zechstein (Ca-2) dolomite. Coring was performed, fluid samples taken and extensive measurements carried out. Mostly nitrogen and minor amounts of hydrocarbons were sampled in the dolomite. Further evaluation will be carried out.

Felsted-1 was spudded 4 December 2011 with the rig Nafta Pila Rig No 4 Iri 1200 at the position 54°58'37.63" N; 9°34'27.51" E (UTM zone 32; 6,092,528.815 N; 536,760.160 E), where ground elevation is 53 metres above sea level. The well will be permanently plugged and abandoned.
