Luna-1 exploration well did not encounter hydrocarbons

As operator of licence 1/11 and in cooperation with licence 2/05 Altinex Oil Denmark A/S (Noreco) has drilled the Luna-1 (5605/32-1) exploration well in western part of the Danish North Sea. No hydrocarbons were discovered in the well.

Luna-1 was drilled as a vertical well and reached its total depth in volcanic conglomerates of presumed Rotliegendes age at 2073 metres below mean sea level. A core was taken, sidewall cores collected and extensive measurements carried out.

An evaluation of the geological model is now being carried out in the view new results.

Luna-1 was spudded on 18 February 2012 with the jack-up rig Maersk Resolve at the position 56° 05’ 57.50" N; 05° 52' 51,69" E (UTM zone 31; 6 221 010.38 m N; 679 202.57 m E), where the water depth is 48 metres.
