Today the Danish Energy Agency is publishing a revised draft of the procurement material for the upcoming of 6 GW of offshore wind, with the option to overplant, for the purpose of an additional market dialogue. The procurements are expected to be opened during the spring of 2024. Certain parts of the draft material are relevant for the procurement of offshore wind at Energy Island Bornholm.

On January 18th, Danish stakeholders are invited to a National Info Day on the recently opened EU Innovation Fund Call and the first EU Innovation Fund Auction.
The Danish Energy Agency has contributed to the establishment of a new bidding zone that will enter into force with the commissioning of Bornholm Energy Island. The bidding zone is being established on the basis of a structural congestion identified by Energinet in the electricity transmission grid that will connect Bornholm Energy Island with Zealand and Germany.

It is now possible to apply for subsurface exploration license for CO2 storage in five designated onshore areas. The application deadline is 24 January 2024.

China could potentially break the trend of its CO2 emissions from the energy sector before 2030 and its energy supply could become CO2-neutral well before planned. This is demonstrated in a new report presented today at the UN Climate Summit, COP28. The report was prepared by Chinese authorities with assistance from Danish experts.

Energinet (the Danish TSO) has identified a structural congestion in the electricity transmission network that connects Bornholm Energy Island to Zealand and Germany. As the main rule, bidding zone borders must be drawn on structural congestions in the electricity transmission network. To facilitate this, the Danish Energy Agency makes the decision on an amended bidding zone configuration open for consultation.

The Danish Energy Agency has concluded the Power-to-X Tender and six projects will win the State Aid. Four different companies are behind the six winning projects and can now start building up the production of green hydrogen in Denmark.
The second tender round for offshore licenses for exploration and use of the subsoil for the geological storage of CO2 in the North Sea is postponed. The tender was set to open on August 15th 2023 according to the executive order on CO2 storage license tenders.
Bidders can start preparing to submit their final proposals.
