After close dialogue with the market and government advisors, the basis for choosing an appropriate direction for further work with the energy island in the North Sea has significantly strengthened. At the same time, it is clear, that investing more time in the tender preparational work, to ensure a solid, professional decision-making basis that can future-proof tomorrow’s energy island in the North Sea thus heralding a new era in development with Danish offshore wind, is of great value. The Danish Energy Agency will therefore postpone commencement of the tendering procedure for The North Sea Energy Island by up to 12 months, but estimates that time can be obtained later in the process.

Thor Wind Farm I/S has won the concession to build Thor Offshore Wind Farm. This is the first time a tendering procedure has been completed for offshore wind energy in Denmark without aid. When power is produced, the winner is expected to pay DKK 2.8 bn. to the Danish state within just a few years.
