Key results from upcoming China Renewable Energy Outlook 2020 show the importance of a fast development of wind and solar to achieve China’s targets of the Paris Agreement. In 2020, China added a record of 120 gigawatt wind and solar PV. A development that shows it is realistic to reach the 1,200 GW target even before the estimated target in 2030.

The Danish Energy Agency has prequalified a total of six consortia and companies to participate in the tender for Denmark's largest offshore wind farm to date: Thor Offshore Wind Farm with a capacity of minimum 800-1000 MW.

Today, the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) publishes the material for the market dialogue for the upcoming Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) tender. The DEA here invites potential tenderers and relevant industry associations to participate to the market dialogue by sending written input and/or by participating in a virtual meeting with the DEA and the Danish TSO, Energinet

63 million tons. That is the amount of CO2 emissions that Mexico can cut per year in 2050 if the country achieves an optimal integration of large-scale electricity storage into the energy system. This is the conclusion in a brand new Danish-Mexican study. The reduction is equivalent to almost double the Danish CO2 emissions from energy consumption today.

The Danish Energy Agency published May 18th 2020 a Biomass analysis report concluding that biomass for energy in many cases is an advantage for the climate, e.g. when residues-based biomass replaces fossil fuels. However, in some cases, Danish consumption of biomass for energy can lead to global emissions of greenhouse gases. The report has now been translated into English.

Nord Stream 2 AG has been granted an operations permit for the Nord Stream 2 pipelines on the Danish continental shelf. The permit has been granted on a number of conditions.

A 50 percent share of wind and solar energy was a reality in Denmark - in 2019. The liberalisation of the Danish power sector is the foundation of the transformation. Yesterday, the Danish Energy Agency presents lessons learned and recommendations for other countries, which stand on the verge to take the same path in order to secure a competitive power system with a high share of renewable energy.
