The Danish Energy Agency has received an application from Nord Stream 2 AG for permission to construct two parallel natural gas pipelines (Nord Stream 2) on the Danish continental shelf outside of Danish territorial waters in the Baltic Sea. There has been applied for two routes on the continental shelf, south-east of Bornholm, respectively 147 km and 164 km long. The Nord Stream 2 pipeline project is planned to follow a route from Narva Bay in Russia through the Russian, Finnish, Swedish, Danish and German Baltic Sea areas to Lubmin near Greifswald in Germany. The company has obtained permission in Russia, Finland, Sweden and Germany.
Together with the application, an environmental impact report is attached with a number of annexes in order to present possible environmental impacts in Denmark or cross-border environmental impacts from the project in Denmark. There has been applied for two alternative south-eastern routes in relation to previous applied routes, respectively south-east of Bornholm in Danish territorial waters and on the continental shelf, and north-west of Bornholm on the continental shelf which Nord Stream 2 AG wishes to maintain. This application contains alternatives to the north-western route. The Environmental Impact Report with annexes have been submitted to the public from 15 May 2019 to 10 July 2019 and have been sent to the Danish authorities and organizations.

The Danish Energy Agency holds a public meeting on 19 June 2019 on Bornholm, where the applicant Nord Stream 2 AG also will be present. The meeting will take place at Hotel GSH in Rønne starting at 5 pm. The language at the meeting will be Danish and English – Interpretation will be available on request from English to Danish and Danish to English.
