Mexico: The Danish Energy Agency enters cooperation with Mexican think tank
The Mexican non-profit organization, Centro Mario Molina, will cooperate with DEA on renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate change mitigation.

Recently, the Danish Ambassador to Mexico, Mr. Henrik Bramsen Hahn, on behalf of the Danish Energy Agency, signed a Letter of Intent with Centro Mario Molina (CMM), an independent Mexican non-profit association that is working actively with climate change, sustainable development and energy in Mexico.
The Centro Mario Molina for Strategic Energy and Environmental Studies (CMM) is a non-profit organization and was created in 2004 by Professor Mario Molina. CMM seeks to bring together civil society, national and foreign authorities, as well as international institutions to generate consensus on energy, environmental and climate issues. The aim is to support sustainable development in Mexico, increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions – all issues that is also a key part of the Mexican-Danish government-to-government cooperation where the Danish Energy Agency is assisting the Mexican authorities with advise and expertise with building a green, energy efficient and cost-effective energy system.
Since the working areas of CMM and DEA are so closely related, the objective of the cooperation is to establish a mutually beneficial partnership to promote information sharing, best practices, and knowledge transfer between Denmark and Mexico within renewable energy planning – with a special focus on bio-energy. Furthermore the cooperation will share lessons learned within energy modelling, scenario analyses and capacity building, including modelling tools and compilation of data and technologies.
Some areas for cooperation have already been identified in the field of bioenergy where an exchange of information, experience and documentation will be highly valuable as there are great synergies between the Danish assistance to the Mexican authorities and studies currently done by CMM - for instance on residuals from the agro-industry sector such as coffee factories, breweries and tequila distilleries.
The first activities under the cooperation are expected within first quarter of 2016 with possible joint participation in studies, seminars and workshops.
