Vietnam: Financing mechanism implemented in Vietnam
The Green Investment Facility (GIF) supports investments in energy efficiency measures in small and medium sized businesses and is now up and running
The Green Investment Facility (GIF), designed by the Danish Energy Agency in cooperation with relevant stakeholders, will support investments in energy saving measures for Vietnamese small and medium sized businesses in the ceramics, food preparation and brick production sectors. These are all sectors with great energy efficiency potential.
On 26 January the GIF was launched in the in the ceramics village of Kim Lan. Several ceramics companies are in the process of filling in application forms for a bank guarantee though the GIF and a guideline has been drafted, which will be used for verification of different types of energy efficiency projects.
The Danish Energy Agency’s input to technical criteria as well as the verification principles being developed increases transparency in the administration of the GIF. In addition, the technical guidelines serve as a means of setting new standards of how industries apply energy consuming technologies in a more efficient way.
