Viet Nam’s green energy transition - and how Danish experiences can contribute

Viet Nam has set a target of reaching net-zero CO2-emissions by 2050. To reach this goal, Viet Nam aims to transit to a green energy system with renewable energy sources constituting the foundation of the future energy supply.

With more than 40 years of experience in transforming and greening the Danish energy system, Denmark can support Viet Nam to increase its share of renewable energy without compromising the security of supply. As such, the cooperation focuses particular on long-term energy planning, integration of renewable energy as well as regulatory conditions for offshore wind and energy efficiency.

Cooperation between Danish and Vietnamese authorities

The Danish-Vietnamese government-to-government cooperation on energy is led by the Danish Energy Agency and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade in close cooperation with the Danish embassy and other authorities in Viet Nam.

The programme is in its third phase, which runs until the end of 2025.
